Welcome our super role model

“It was heart wrenching to hear the children’s stories; however their adamant smiles told another story”

Meet Pippa Kensit. Student. Head Boarder.
Hockey Captain and an amazing Humanitarian

After an incredible tour of Vietnam and Cambodia.  Pippa felt compelled to raise awareness and much needed funds for the Sunshine House Orphanage.

Pippa rode 300km on a bicycle in the pouring rain with her team mates and raised $12600 for Awareness Cambodia….

In October holidays 2010 I set off on an INCREDIBLE tour to Vietnam and Cambodia with Laura MacKenzie and Miss Crawford from my school. On this tour we were extremely fortunate to tour and learn about the history and culture of both Vietnam and Cambodia, in particular we visited the memorial sites of the Cambodian genocide. This confronting experience, in conjunction with the touching days spent working and playing with the children at the Sunshine House Orphanage inspired me to want to do something to make a difference and to help improve the future for these beautiful children.

During our time at the Orphanage we felt moved by the joy and happiness of the children who had experienced such immense challenges. Many of the children who live at the Sunshine House Orphanage live with HIV Aids, some as young as 2 years old.  It was heart wrenching to hear the children’s’ stories; however their adamant smiles told another story.

I think the number one thing I gained from this tour was to take nothing for granted! It completely broadened my perspective and allowed me to realise how unbelievably fortunate I am. This realisation, was what drove me to test myself and my team members with my mad idea to cycle 300km from Pymble to my home town of Crookwell. Ideally challenging myself to help these kids and show my admiration of them.

Thus far, it has been a bumpy ride. I have learnt alot about organisation and management, all good I must say. Working, planning, training and laughing ALOT with the girls has been awesome and I think we all have developed life skills from it. Right now we are just bursting with excitement! We cannot wait to hit the road, we even love just maintaining our gear or visiting the bike shop.

Thank you to everyone who has been encouraging and supporting us on our endeavors! Our funds are rising which only motivates us to work harder for all of you who have faith in us to make it all the way to Crookwell.

Pippa and her team went on to raise $12600 riding in the pouring rain you can see the whole process by going to Service Adventure riding from Pymble to Crookwell http://ride.pymblelc.nsw.edu.au/
